“We saw betrayals by the very organisations to which many had devoted their lives. We saw cold and unbending systems wreak great personal pain. We saw individuals pushed to the edge and, for far too many, pushed past their limits of endurance.”
“So many dark places could have been illuminated by leadership. So many lives could have been saved by it. So much pain to so many families could have been prevented. So many problems could have been solved by leaders who simply listened, and then led.”

I’ve just finished the toughest assignment I’ve ever undertaken.
It’s a book I’ve written for the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide called:
Shining a Light: Stories of Trauma & Tragedy, Hope & Healing.
The book draws on the lived-experience submissions to the Commission to showcase the deeply personal stories to highlight the complex cultural and systemic issues which are failing our veterans and their families.
We lose a veteran every five days to suicide.
We must act now to halt this national tragedy.
